Balancing Multiple Cash Tills February 20, 2011 barney

C9 includes a new feature in version 4.156; the ability to report on multiple cash tills. For example your spares till and workshop till may be in completely different buildings.  This new feature now allows you to separate out transactions into multiple locations.  This post explains how to setup and use this feature.

Initial Setup

Cash tills in C9 are nominated with a till number. By default this number is '1'.

Different terminals are configured with different till numbers. So for example say you have:

  • A spares counter and 3 terminals
  • A workshop counter and 2 terminals

Each counter has one till.  You may decide to number your tills like this:

  • 1 = spares
  • 5 = workshop

On the terminals in workshop you need to tell these terminals that they are number 5.

To do this goto

  • Setup.
  • Payments and Deposits Tab

At the bottom of the tab is an option "Cash Till Number of this Terminal". Change it to 5.

Usage

Run Cash till report normally as you would previously

  • Business
  • Reports
  • Cash Till Report

Now in the reporting period in question, if there are multiple transactions across multiple till numbers it will pop up a window asking you to select the till number to report on and it will only show you transactions from that till no.

Now if in the period there is only one till that was taking transactions (i.e. workshop might be closed for a day), then this window will not be displayed. Cash till report will automatically generate a report for the only till used on that day.
